The Buddha discovered that human beings suffer because they are ignorant of the nature of Reality. In other words, we do not discern what is Real and what is not-Real.
This three-part program will examine the causes of this ignorance and offer alternative responses through the developed awareness of the choices we make. We will learn to distinguish between the Real and not-Real.
11 September, 2024:
Part 1, Who Am I? The Present.
Throughout history, people have sought the answer to the question, âWho Am I?â We are
conditioned to look for that answer outside of ourselves, for some explanation that lifts the veil
of confusion. So, the question is, are we looking in the wrong place? This part examines how we
make choices in our lives. Is it simply stimulus and response? Or is there a backward step, a
pause to consider other choices?
16 October, 2024:
Part 2, Where did I come from? The Past.
Part 2 provides a background of our conditioning. Where did we learn to believe what we
believe? How did our generational family, culture, language, nation, sex, and religion form the
basis of our expectations, preferences and standards right and wrong? Are we simply passing
on what we have learned from our parents to our children?
13 November, 2024:
Part 3, Where am I going? The Future.
Having examined the cause and conditions of Who Am I and Where Did I Come From? Part 3
looks to discuss goals, how to set them, and how to achieve them.
